Success Celebration of Jamdani & Baul Song 2015

Intellectual Property Association of Bangladesh (IPAB) has celebrated the recognition from UNESCO for Bangladeshi Jamdani & Baul Songs as the Intangible Cultural Heritage awarding the concerned artists and arranged a musical soiree on 13 June, 2015 (Saturday). UNESCO recognized Bangladeshi Baul Songs and Jamdani as the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2008 and 2013 respectively. This will facilitate the quick registration of Baul Songs and Jamdani as the geographical indication (GI) product of Bangladesh.

 The Program started with the blessings of the honorable prime minister which was read out by Ms. Maleka Khan, advisor of IPAB. Weavers from three places who have managed to retain the ancient Jamdani weaving intelligence, passed from generation to generation were honored with awards.

 Honorable information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, MP attended the program as Chief Guest,  Aktari Momotaz, Secretary, Ministry of  Cultural Affairs, Suraiya Begum ndc, Secretary, Prime Minister Office, Abul Kalam Azad, Principal Secretary, and President Salahuddin Abdullah were present as special guests.

A Jamdani show and a grand cultural program were also performed by some legendary artists at the program.
